However Helen states classic rock bands and artists like Bon Jovi, Jeff Buckley, REM, Smashing Pumpkins and, in particular, Bruce Springsteen as a significant influence on her writing, saying ‘I’ve learnt many ideas about songwriting such as subtle chord changes and harmonising from (Springsteen’s) music’.
